Project Mala seeks out working children in remote villages of eastern Uttar Pradesh, India and gives them quality education in four R’s reading, writing, arithmetic and respect. The main aim of ACE was originally to assist rural primary schools in southwest Uganda. However, another needs have been observed which they are now trying to address as well
When pupils leave primary school they are often unable to proceed to secondary education because of their family circumstances. Many of them are orphans or come from very poor families. There are a small number of these pupils who are very gifted and could potentially go on to be the doctors and teachers of the next generation.

ACE discovered that pupils were best able to learn if they boarded at the school, as family issues and often long walks to school meant that education was frequently interrupted. The sponsorship money goes towards covering the cost of boarding a child at the school. This means that with ACE you will know that you are making a real difference by bringing through a better educated generation that will help their communities to become more self-sufficient and break the cycle of poverty.
